People ask do dogs feel the cold well the answer is YES especially the smaller dogs and the older dogs.
Most people out walking on a cold cold day do not put coats on their dogs but be aware they do need them.
If the weather is making your eyes water it is doing the same to our dogs so rug them up in a warm coat if you need one they do too. We are often told in the heat of summer if our bare feet cannot stand the footpath heat neither can your dogs ,well its the same for winter, please take your shoes off and walk barefoot down your road and see how your feet react, again dogs feel this as well and if they seem recluctant to go for a walk, try taking them later. Its very simple we must take care of our dogs health in winter and even the bigger dogs do feel the cold. We do have spare coats for dogs to borrow if they come to stay in winter and some sleep wear as well, nothing worse than going on holiday and being cold when trying to sleep and some dogs in a new home environment coming to stay may not settle if they are cold. If you have a senior dog a warm coat is essential especially if they have arthritis and a warm comfy bed is a must. Most people think dogs are dogs they do not feel the cold but our world and our domestication of our furry friends means they are more susceptible to our environments we create for them but even in the wild they felt the cold so please keep them dry and warm as much as you can and put those coats on outside when walking and let me see all of those colourful coats decorating our land. From every dog we hear, brrr its cold wheres my coat mum.
